Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEF& CC) had launched National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) on 10thJanuary,2019 as a long term, time-bound, national-level strategy to tackle the air pollution problem across India in a comprehensive manner, with a target of 20-30% reduction in Particulate matter concentration by 2024, keeping 2017 as base year for comparison of concentration. Focused efforts are being made at this stage to attain tangible progress in air quality improvement. Under National Clean Air Programme (NCAP); 102 cities were declared as non-attainment cities, in which Raipur also included as non-attainment city.
The Government of India, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has initialized the National Clean Air Program for the non attainment cities pertaining to Air Quality Improvement activities. CECB has released the grant in aid of Rs. 2,50,00,000.00 (Rupees Two Crore Fifty Lakhs) to Raipur Municipal Corporation towards Air quality improvement efforts.
